What is Organ Donation?
While many patients in our country lose their lives due to chronic organ failures, unfortunately, a large number of people also pass away with healthy organs that could have saved others’ lives. These vital organs often cannot reach patients waiting on transplant lists due to the lack of timely organ donation.
Organ donation refers to the act of individuals voluntarily donating their organs, with their free will, after their medical life has ended — to be transplanted into patients on waiting lists. It is a deeply humanitarian and life-saving decision that bridges the gap between loss and hope.
In Turkey, any citizen over the age of 18 and of sound mind can choose to donate all or part of their organs prior to death. Each donor gives the gift of life to multiple patients, ensuring that their legacy continues through the lives they help save.
